Which Kontakt version should I use?

Depending on which Vir2 instrument you purchased, and which revision of the disc that was in your box, you may have any version of the Kontakt engine ranging from 2.x to 4.x.

We always recommend that our users update to the latest Kontakt engine for the best stability and feature support. Kontakt engine updates are free and are available in the Downloads area. At the time of this writing, Kontakt 4.x is the latest version.

The only exceptions to this recommendation are for PowerPC Mac users (e.g. G4, or G5 users) who should continue to use Kontakt Player 3.5 (also available in the Downloads area) because Kontakt 4 does not support PowerPC Macs.

Users who are using very old versions of host sequencers may also have extenuating circumstances in which we may recommend staying with an older version of the Kontakt engine.
